Simon and his brother were raised in Indonesia to missionary parents. From a young age, Simon and his brother helped their mother in her medical clinic and also travelled with their father on long, often dangerous mission trips into the jungles either on foot or by boat. Simon says the sacrifices of his parents; his mother in her medical profession and his fathers mission work, modelled within him a deep love for hurting people. 

Simon is married to Allison and they have two children. Allison is a graphic designer, artist and art therapist. Both Simon and Allison have travelled to and worked in countries gripped by persecution and war, deploying various kinds of support and resources to strengthen people in crisis.
